Is 'Snow White' a misrepresentation of the White Woman ?

Now before you get all heated listen to this. How many of you have seen the movie known as "Snow White" ? It is a timeless classic that was actually started in Germany.
The book was so popular, that they did a film which was by Disney of course. But you know me,
being the Man that I am, I realized the subliminal message that was hidden deep within while watching.

Here you have a Woman who prayed for a daughter and that her skin would be as white as snow,
lips red as blood, and her hair as black as ebony. Now is this what the status quo sees as being the ideal Woman ? Some would say that it used to be. But look at Katie Perry, and she is probably the most popular singer in the world right now. So we have yet again bought into the image
that is often being potrayed by the media and magazines abroad. Do you think that this sends the
wrong message about the White Woman ? She is Snow White which means this. She is pretty,
virginal, sweet natured, and obedient. How many of you feel like you are under this impression ?
Do you feel any pressure at all to try and live up to this stereotype and expectations of Men in general ? Im curious. LOL
PATITA- Oh but I am sure that is a fantasy that most young girls have had before.
How old are you now ? LOL
MOON- That is why I bough up Katie Perry. There are some subliminal messages seen with her being advertised in magazines and on tv. She even looks like that in way if you watch the video by that rock band a few years back. Take A Look At My Girlgriend, Shes The Only One I Want………… Remember that ? Do you think that the media is using her in that manner to be seen by some as this White Heroine or a Snow White. <
Needless to say that some White Women probably see themselves as a Snow White. Imagine that.
THUMBZDOWN- According to some of the entertainers it was, like a lot of old school American films give us a subliminal message about race. King Kong was another one. But anyway.
The verdict stands, and you as usual sound like an idiot.
MEGAN- Actually you are wrong about that one dear. But I can see your lack of maturity a mile away. It does not surprise me to see you spew hot air out of your pretty little mouth. Or whats left of it anyway. LOL
MEGAN- Oh you know I was just joking around. There is no need to take offense dear. You are very smart even if you are quite incessant in the Im Little Miss Muppet category. I think you just proved my point. Say cheese. Ha, ha, ha. (camera flashing)

i highly doubt it was ever intended on being any kind of representation of white women. why do black dudes incessantly talk about white people & in particular white women & are always in their business? its weird. go to the culture section, its the same thing over there only multiplied.

Only in 2011 would a person actually sit down and think "Gee, how can I portray Snow White as fascist, and try and look smart while doing it?"

Unfortunately, kid, you’re not the first to do this. People have done this with the Berenstein Bears, the Lion King, and other Disney classics such as Sleeping Beauty, Alice and Wonderland, Cinderella, it’s been done with Harry Potter, Judy Blume books, it’s even been done with Blues Clues and Bob the Builder.

There is a subculture out there that just wants to believe that alllllll of our kids’ books, TV shows, and movies are just this big propaganda machine. Yes, they’re all just trying to teach our kids racism, satanism, sexism, religious propaganda, this or that propaganda. I hate to break it to you but we are not living in North Korea.

It was a nice try though.

EDIT: " Actually you are wrong about that one dear. But I can see your lack of maturity a mile away. It does not surprise me to see you spew hot air out of your pretty little mouth. Or whats left of it anyway. LOL "

      – First of all I find it funny that you just made an entire post about how you think that Snow White is supposed to be some kind of allegory for the "ideal woman," implying that it’s sexist, and then you tell me I’m spewing hot air out of my "pretty little mouth." And then you tell me I’M stupid??
No. My answer was based on the last 20 years of observation among people. 20 years ago, people weren’t focusing on this crap unless they honest to God had nothing better to do with their time. And 20 years ago is *really* not that long ago, so people’s way of thinking hasn’t much changed, especially not in terms of sexism (for the purpose of your question).

      This "idiot" has three degrees.

All Disney characters are misrepresentations of women.

Possible but look at Germany in general. (stereo typically)
the average person in Germany as it is quite northern has pale skin blonde hair etc you know the rest.
In the time that "snow white" was written i presume Germans had never seen a dark skinned person. dark hair and deep lips where very rare and so considered beautiful. as it is the other way around in middle eastern country’s today. Blonde hair and blue eyes are rare so beautiful and "amaze people" as dark hair and dark eyes then.
      Interesting thoughts i must admit.
      :)

Except the wicked witch is also a white woman.

    6. Patita fea Says:

I must admit that I would not mind a Prince Charming like in a fairy tale.

i dont know much about katy perry but i do know she got famous for singing a song about making out with chicks. i think youre just reading waaaay too much into this.

    8. Thomas Says:

I remember reading about the original Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs, aka Schneewittchen. In the original European folktale of Snow White, the 7 dwarfs DEMANDED that Snow White cook, clean and cater to them for protection. She was also only 16 years old(would be considered a woman at the time), which is technically not a woman by modern day standards. Basically, the only thing the original story has to do with white females is how they were oppressed and without a man(the prince) saving them, they were pretty much doomed.

    9. Ŧѳʏʂ Я ₦ᴇᴀʀ Says:

Snow White has taken a backseat to strong and intelligent Disney women like Belle. I can tell you honestly that when I was younger, I never aspired to be like Snow White.

Maybe back in the day it was ideal for Caucasian women to be pearly white, red-lipped, dark-haired, and obedient, but the key words here are "back in the day". Times have changed, and I don’t think many women these days look to cartoons for inspiration on how to be womanly. We women in the younger generation have been taught (and have learned for ourselves) that we’re meant to be our own woman, despite the pressures society places on us to look and act a certain way. We seem to be more aware of those pressures nowadays than those women of the 1930’s (about the time "Snow White" was released).

Personally, I live up to my own expectations of myself…men are irrelevant in my judgement of the quality of my life, my looks, and my personality.

    10. Moon Says:

Segregation was once normal and many people even believed it to be a natural way of life. If you go back further, before Snow White, the earlier Disney films, you will see what I’m talking about. Many of them are even banned from the public today because it’s so bad. (check youtube) But during that time period, it wasn’t considered bad, it was just the way it was.
